Hatters return to the Edmunds Center for a rematch with the Dolphins

DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson University men's basketball team gets set for another ASUN East Division rematch as the Hatters return to the Edmunds Center to host Jacksonville University. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

Stetson comes off an 89-82 overtime loss to Florida Gulf Coast back on Saturday, Feb. 12. It was the second time this year the Hatters and the Eagles played extra minutes against one another. In the loss, Chase Johnston led all Hatters scorers with a season-high 24 points as the sophomore went 5-for-10 from beyond the arc. Stephan Swenson tallied 14 points of his own while Christiaan Jones and Mahamadou Diawara each put up 10. 
 
On his second 3-point field goal of the game, Johnston broke his own single-season record for made 3-pointers (79) that he set a season ago. His five 3-pointers put him at 83 for the season. The Boca Raton native is currently eighth in the nation in made 3-point field goals. 
 
Scouting the Dolphins
Jacksonville enters Saturday's contest a winner of four of its last five games as the Dolphins come off a come-from-behind 73-69 victory over Liberty back on Saturday, Feb. 12. After facing a 10-point deficit at halftime, JU outscored the Flames 41-27 in the second half. The win was JU's 16th overall and their eighth ASUN victory as the Dolphins currently hold the No. 2 seed in the East Division, just behind Liberty. 
 
The Dolphins boast a well-rounded offense as Kevion Nolan leads JU with an even 14.0 points per game. Six Dolphins players average over 8.5 points per game while three others average over 7.5. As a team, JU shoots 35.9 percent from beyond the arc, good for third in the league and 45.2 percent overall from the field, good for sixth in the ASUN. 
 
Last Time We Met
Stetson and JU last met on Jan. 11 in Jacksonville as the Dolphins got the best of the Hatters, 57-50. The Hatters are now 37-57 all-time against the Dolphins as Stetson looks to end its two-game skid against JU. 
 
Scouting the Hatters 
Stetson enters Saturday's contest looking up at four teams in front of it as the Hatters fell to 11-14 overall and 5-7 in ASUN action.
 
Over the last five games, Stetson is 3-2 as Johnston and Jones have been the offensive catalysts with Johnston averaging 18.4 points per game while Jones has put up 17.4. Over the same span, Stetson's floor general Stephan Swenson has tallied 11.6 points per game and 5.8 assists. 
 
Looking Ahead
As soon as the Hatters return home, they immediately hit the road again as Stetson heads north to Lynchburg, Va. for a bout with the Liberty Flames on Saturday, Feb. 19. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
