Hatters set for rematch against Liberty

Lynchburg, Va. -- The Stetson University men's basketball team gets set for the home stretch of the 2022 season as the Hatters head north to Virginia for a rematch with Liberty University. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

Stetson comes of a 67-45 loss against Jacksonville back on Wednesday night at the Edmunds Center. Chase Johnston led the Hatters with 12 points while freshman Alex Crawford matched both his season-high and career-high with 11 points, going 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. 
 
Scouting the Flames
Liberty enters Saturday's game on a two-game skid as the Flames have lost two in a row to both Jacksonville and North Florida and fall to 18-9 overall and 9-3 in ASUN Conference action. 
 
The Flames sport an offense centered around their senior guard Darius McGhee. McGhee enters play averaging 22.9 points per game, good for fourth in the nation while his 617 total points are tops in the country. McGhee also leads the nation with 116 made 3-point field goals. He's supported by both Shiloh Robinson and Keegan McDowell as the pair averages 10.6 and 10.0 points per game, respectively. 
 
Last Time We Met
The Hatters and the Flames last met back on Jan. 4 in both team's ASUN opener. Liberty got the best of Stetson as the Flames knocked off the Hatters 75-59. 
 
Scouting the Hatters
Stetson also enters Saturday's contest on a two-game skid as the Hatters have lost two in a row to both Florida Gulf Coast and Jacksonville.
 
Johnston enters play averaging 17.0 points per game over Stetson's last five games. Christiaan Jones has averaged 12.4 points per game as the pair have been the Hatters stalwarts down the final stretch of the season. Mahamadou Diawara has crashed the glass over the Hatters last five games as the junior has averaged 6.2 boards over the span. 
 
Looking Ahead
After Stetson's bout with the Flames, the Hatters head to Kennesaw State for their final road trip of the regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 23. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
