Hatters continue hot start, top CoC and No. 20 FGCU

DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson University beach volleyball team continued its hot start Saturday afternoon as the Hatters closed out the Stetson Spring Fling with two more wins, shutting out the College of Charleston 5-0 and then beating No. 20 FGCU 4-1.

Stetson rolled past the College of Charleston as the Hatters (4-0) won in straight sets in the early morning match. The Hatters held the Cougars (1-3) to 15 points or less in every set except two.

In the Hatters second dual of the day against the No. 20-ranked Eagles, Stetson battled its way to the 4-1 win. On court 5, Audrey Gauthier and Klea Sirois fought to earn the Hatters the first point of the day as the pair took the first set 21-19, but had to work a little more for set two as they took that one 23-21.

The Eagles (2-2) earned their only win in a three-set match on court 4 as Trinity Rosales and Shelby Beisner got the best of Lauren Della and Colene Hamilton. The Hatters responded as Stetson took the next three matches in a row, including the match on court 1 that saw Shae Henson and Kylie Neuschaeferova play three highly competitive and evenly matched sets as the pair came out on top with a 15-9 win in set three.

The Hatters will be back in action on Tuesday, March 1 as Stetson heads out west to Long Beach California for a date with Long Beach State and Loyola Marymount. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
