Hatters fall to No. 14 Long Beach State, No. 4 LMU

Long Beach, Calf. -- The newly ranked No. 16 Stetson University beach volley team dropped both of its matches Tuesday morning to No. 14 Long Beach State and No. 4 Loyola Marymount on the Hatters quick West Coast trip.

The Hatters (4-1) faced a 1-0 deficit early on as Lauren Della and Colene Hamilton fell in two sets on court 4, but Carolina Ferris and Anete Namike were able to pick them up with a win a 2-0 win on court 2 (21-18, 21-14). After the Hatters lone win, the Sharks rattled off three straight victories but not before a three-set battle on court 3 between the Hatters Gabriella Bramante and Karin Zolnercikova and Long Beach's Holland Jackson and Sydney Stevens.

In Stetson's second match of the day, LMU defeated the Hatters 5-0 in straight sets. Bramante and Zolnercikova put up another hard-fought match on court 3 but fell in two sets, 24-22 and 22-20.

The Hatters continue their cross country trip on Friday, March 4 as Stetson heads to Fort Worth, Texas to face Georgia State and TCU at the Horned Frogs Challenge. First serve against Georgia State is set for 10:30 a.m.
