Hatters ready to continue super schedule, face No. 2 USC, No. 4 FSU

DeLand, Fla. -- The Hatters enter week three of the 2022 season and have another opportunity to play against some of the top teams in the nation. Stetson is set to host the Sun-N-Sand Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, March 12 and 13 as the Hatters square off against University of Tampa and No. 12 Florida Atlantic at 8 a.m. and noon, respectively, on Saturday. Then on Sunday, the Hatters face the No. 4-ranked Florida State Seminoles and the No. 2-ranked USC Trojans at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Both duals will be aired on ESPN+.

In the Polls
The Hatters were ranked 18th in the nation in the latest AVCA Collegiate Beach VB Poll. It is Stetson's third week in a row this season appearing on the country's top-20 list.  Stetson is currently the fifth-highest ranked team in the East Region. Three of the Hatters' four upcoming matches will be against teams ranked ahead of them in the country.

Recap
The Hatters began the year winning their first four in a row but faltered in week two of competition as Stetson has dropped four in a row after trips to Long Beach, Calif. and Fort Worth, Texas. Hatters look to get back on track on Saturday.

No Breaks
Of the Hatters eight matches thus far, six have been against ranked opponents, and three of this weekend's four matches will be against top-12 opponents. The Hatters are in a span of playing nine ranked opponents in their first 12 duals of the season.

Pair of the Week
The Hatters 4-0 start garnered Stetson the season's first ASUN Pair of the Week honors as Shae Henson and Kylie Neushaeferova were tabbed the ASUN's Pair of the Week, the week ending March 2. The Hatters No.1 pair helped Stetson to two wins over two top-20 opponents as the Hatters downed No. 18 South Carolina and No. 20 FGCU in Stetson's season-opening Spring Fling tournament.

Over 200 Wins
The Stetson beach volleyball program is in its 11th season of competition. The Hatters reached 200 wins as a program with their 5-0 win over College of Charleston back on Feb. 26. Stetson's all-time record of 201-94 is third-highest in the NCAA, behind USC (241) and FSU (240).

The Head Coach
Stetson head coach Kristina Hernandez, a four-time ASUN Coach of the Year, is in her ninth season with the Hatters. She has a record of 179-75. She is the third all-time winningest coach in the NCAA and second among active coaches.

Looking Ahead
Next weekend, the Hatters will host the Stetson Challenge and welcome North Alabama, FGCU, North Florida and Palm Beach Atlantic to Cooper Beach. First serve is set for 8 a.m.
