Hatters take duals over North Florida and Palm Beach Atlantic

DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson University beach volleyball squad got back to its winning ways Saturday afternoon as the Hatters went 2-0 with a 4-1 win over North Florida and then a straight-set 5-0 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic to close out the Stetson Challenge.

Stetson's No. 4 pair of Karin Zolnercikova and Colene Hamilton set the tone early as the duo got the Hatters on the board with a two-set win (21-18, 21-17). Then on court 5, despite losing the first set 22-20, Aleksandra Stadnik and Klea Sirois claimed a hard-fought, three-set win to give the Hatters (8-8) a 2-0 advantage.

Lauren Della and Gabriella Bramante officially sealed the win on court 3 as the pair cruised to a two-set win taking the first 21-13 and the second 21-10. Carolina Ferraris and Anete Namike added Stetson's fourth point of the dual with a two-set win of their own on court 2.

In the Hatters second dual of the day, Stetson topped the Sailfish 5-0 in straight sets. The most points the Hatters allowed on any court were 18, coming in set one on court 2 and then again in set two on court 1.

The Hatters beach volleyball squad will be back in action on Saturday, March 26 at 8 a.m. as Stetson hosts the Stetson Beach Bash and Senior Day.
