Hatters head to the Palmetto State for the Carolina Challenge at Wheeler Beach

Columbia, S.C. -- The Stetson University beach volleyball squad heads to the University of South Carolina for the Carolina Challenge at Wheeler Beach this weekend as the Hatters square off against UAB and South Carolina on Friday, April 1 and Jacksonville and UNCW on Saturday, April 2.

The No. 19-ranked Hatters are fresh off their final home tournament of the season as Stetson went 1-3 at the Stetson Beach Bash. The Hatters continued their string of competitions against ranked opponents as they hosted FAU and Georgia State with the Owls ranked No. 10 in last week's poll and the Panthers ranked 13th. Stetson earned a 5-0 sweep over Coastal Carolina for its ninth win of the year and only win of the tournament.

Junior Shae Henson and doubles partner, freshman, Kylie Neuschaeferova collected three wins on court 1 over the weekend event as the pair topped its opponents from the 10th-ranked Owls and 13th-ranked Panthers.

This weekend's tournament sees a slightly lighter schedule of competition for Stetson as the host, South Carolina, is the only ranked opponent the Hatters will face. The Gamecocks enter the weekend at 14th on the AVCA Collegiate Beach Coaches Top 20 while UNCW is receiving votes.

The Hatters kick off the competition at the Carolina Challenge at Wheeler Beach on Friday, April 1 at 1 p.m. against UAB.
