Hatters drop two to No. 19 Georgia State, No. 5 TCU

Fort Worth, Texas – The Stetson University beach volleyball team dropped both of its matches Friday afternoon as the Hatters fell to No.19 Georgia State 3-2 and then dropped its fourth in a row, losing to No. 5 TCU 5-0.

The Hatters (4-4) fell behind 1-0 after a two-set loss on court 5, but quickly knotted the match at 1 apiece after Audrey Gauthier and Klea Sirois topped Becky Tresham and Chloe Kleepsies in three sets. The pair went down 1-0 after the first set but then took sets two and three 21-16 and 15-11 to earn the point.

Carolina Ferraris and Anete Namike took their match on court 2, 21-17 in both sets to put the Hatters in front 2-1. The Panthers responded and tied the match at 2-2 after earning the win on court 3. Reigning ASUN pair of the week Shae Henson and Kylie Neuschaeferova dropped their first set in a hard-fought 22-20 decision before falling 21-18 in the second set as the Panthers earned their third point to seal the win.

In Stetson's second match of the day, the Hatters faced No. 5 Texas Christian University. The Horned Frogs (6-0) got out to a 1-0 lead and never gave it up, winning every set except on court 3 where Karin Zolnercikova and Gabriella Bramante won set one 22-20.

Stetson's beach volleyball team will be back in action on Saturday, March 12 as the Hatters welcome Tampa, FAU, FSU, and defending national champion USC to DeLand for the Stetson Sun-N-Sand Invitational. First serve against Tampa is set for 8 a.m.
