Hatters to host KSU to begin ASUN action

DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson University lacrosse team begins its ASUN Conference schedule on Saturday, April 2 as the Hatters host Kennesaw State University at the ATC at noon. 

The Hatters finished their non-conference schedule with a 3-7 overall record, earning back-to-back wins over Winthrop University and Presbyterian College on February 27 and March 2, respectively. Hatters topped Monmouth University on March 16 for their third win, but have since lost three in a row, falling to Gardner-Webb, No. 11 Florida, and Mercer University. 

The Owls enter Saturday's contest with an 8-4 record and currently ride a four-game win streak. KSU has a prolific scoring attack led by Siena Gore as the graduate student leads the nation in goals with 58. KSU leads the ASUN in scoring as the Owls average 15 goals per game. To go with their high-scoring offense, the KSU defense is third in the league in scoring defense, allowing only 11.17 goals per game. 

Stetson's Samantha Paglino is tied for fifth in the ASUN in goals scored with 19 while adding seven assists to her ledger. Fellow freshman Mia Judd is third in caused turnovers with 15 on the year to lead the Hatters defense while graduate goalkeeper Kiera McCarthy is third in the league with 53 saves. 

This will be the ninth time that the Hatters and Owls have squared off as the series currently sits at 4-4 with KSU claiming wins in the last three meetings. 

After the Hatters host KSU, Stetson heads to Lynchburg, Va. to face Liberty University on Saturday, April 9. Game time is set for noon.
