Hatters take two from Ospreys

Jacksonville, Fla. -- The Stetson University beach volleyball squad swept North Florida in a midweek dual doubleheader as the Hatters took home a pair of 4-1 wins over the Ospreys Wednesday afternoon at The Coop.

The Hatters (15-15) returned to .500 on the season as Stetson battled UNF on the road. Audrey Gauthier and Colene Hamilton led off the first dual with a 2-0 win on court 4. After Lauren Della and Noelle Weintraub dropped their first set on court 5, the pair rebounded and took the next two sets to give the Hatters a 2-0 advantage. Carolina Ferraris and Anete Namike, playing in the No. 1 position, sealed the win for Stetson as the pair earned a 2-0 win.

In the Hatters second dual against the Ospreys, Stetson topped UNF in the first four matches, beginning with a three-set win from Gauthier and Hamilton on court 4. Weintraub and Lauren Domel then earned the Hatters their second point of the dual in a hard-fought three-set win on court 5. Then on court 3, Karin Zolnercikova and Gabriella Bramante won in two sets to earn Stetson its 15th win of the year.

After Wednesday's pair of 4-1 wins over the Ospreys, the Hatters are now 3-0 against UNF on the season.

Stetson's beach volleyball team looks ahead to its final weekend tournament before the ASUN Championship as the Hatters head to Miami on Saturday, April 16 to face FIU and Tulane at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectfully.
