Hatters sweep final day of Carolina Challenge

Columbia, S.C. -- The Stetson University beach volleyball squad finished the Carolina Challenge strong as the Hatters topped both Jacksonville University and UNC Wilmington 5-0 Saturday afternoon at Wheeler Beach.

After a tough loss to UAB on Friday, the Hatters (12-12) won their second in row at the Carolina Challenge. Stetson topped ASUN opponent Jacksonville University 5-0 in straight sets for their 11th win on the year. The Hatters held the Dolphins to 15 points or less in every set except set two on court 2 where Lauren Della and Anete Namike earned the Hatters their fourth point with a 21-13 win and a 21-16 win.

After Stetson topped JU in straight sets, the Hatters finished out the weekend tournament by nearly defeating the Hawks in straight sets. After falling 21-17 in their first set, Noelle Weintraub and Lauren Domel came back to win two-straight on court 5 to secure the Hatters' first point. Audrey Gauthier and Colene Hamilton followed suit on court 4. After the pair lost their first set, they stormed back to take the match 15-12 in set three. The Hatters then took care of business in straight sets on courts 1, 2, and 3.

The Stetson beach volleyball squad will be back in action on Friday, April 8 as the Hatters head to Tallahassee for the FSU Unconquered Invitational. First dual is set for 9:30 a.m. against TCU.
