Hatters fall to No. 2 TCU, but bounce back against TAMUCC

Tallahassee, Fla. -- The Stetson University beach volleyball team split its first two duals of the FSU Unconquered Invitational Friday afternoon as the Hatters fell 3-2 to No. 2 TCU, but rebounded well in the afternoon as Stetson shutout Texas A&M Corpus Christi 5-0.

In the Hatters first dual of the tournament, the Stetson faced TCU for the second time this season after the Horned Frogs took the first matchup 5-0 back on March 4. The Hatters fell behind 1-0 after falling 2-0 on court 4, but rebounded quickly as Carolina Ferraris and Anete Namike won 2-0 on court 2. TCU took the next two matches on courts 5 and 3. Reigning ASUN Pair of the Week Shae Henson and Kylie Neuschaeferova added another point for the Hatters as the pair pulled off a 2-1 win on court 1 after battling through a 31-29 loss in set one.

In their second dual of the day, the Hatters secured their ninth 5-0 shutout of the year as Karin Zolnercikova and Noelle Weintraub led off the dual with a 2-0 win over Elizabeth Cortez and Micaela Mirabel on court 5. The Hatters continued to have success as Lauren Della and Gabriella Bramante followed suit with a 2-0 win on court 3 to go ahead 2-0. On court 2, after a 28-26 battle in set one, Carolina Ferraris and Anete Namike cruised to a 21-12n win in set two to seal the win.

Stetson is back on the sand on Saturday, April 9 as the Hatters compete in the second day of the FSU Unconquered Invitational, taking on No. 5 LSU at 9:30 a.m. and No. 4 FSU at 3:30 a.m.
