Lynchburg, Va. -- The Stetson University lacrosse team heads north this weekend as the Hatters prepare to face Liberty University in the Hatters final road matchup of the year on Saturday, April 9 at noon.
The Hatters come off their fourth loss in a row as Stetson fell 19-10 to Kennesaw State back on Saturday, April 2. Saige Roe led the Stetson offense as the sophomore notched her first hat trick of the season. Seven other Hatters each added a goal while Saige-Lyn Gidzinski and Maria Snee each added assists.
The Flames enter Saturday's contest with a 7-5 overall record and are 1-0 in ASUN Conference action. LU has won three of its last four games as the Flames come off a 22-5 win over Delaware State for their most recent victory. The Flames are led by a dynamic offense that features eight scorers with double digit goals on the season. Jordan Baerga and Mackenzie Lehman lead the offense with 27 and 25 goals, respectively. In goal, Jennifer Soriero has made 70 saves and only allows an average of 10.56 goals per game.
The Hatters will try and end a three-game losing streak to the Flames on Saturday as LU claimed an 18-9 win over Stetson in their last meeting back on April 23, 2021.
For the Hatters, freshman Samantha Paglino leads the offense with 20 goals while Jordyn Humphrey follows with 16 of her own. Jessica Duggan's 20 points are second to Paglino's 27 as Duggan has 10 goals to go along with 10 assists. On the defensive side, Mia Judd leads the Hatters with 17 caused turnovers and 18 ground balls.
After the Hatters square off against Liberty, Stetson returns home for their final three regular season contests beginning with Jacksonville University on Saturday, April 16. Game time is set for noon.
