Stetson Men's Tennis Welcomes Back Familiar Face

DELAND, Fla. – Hatter Men's Tennis hired a new volunteer assistant coach to supplement the staff; Tim Gennes following his graduation in 2022 has stayed with the program to augment the leadership.

"When I came back to visit the school after graduating, I met the impressive new characters that Coach [Noblet] has brought in," Gennes said "From there on, coming back as an assistant for one more season was the right thing to do. We have a gritty and young roster. I want to make it my duty to help these guys grow into champions and build a championship culture."

Gennes was a stalwart for the Hatters on the court, posting a 37-20 while at Stetson with 16 doubles win. Coming from a high tennis pedigree in Germany, ranked no. 15 in the country, Gennes earned 300 victories prior to even setting foot in DeLand. In his most recent competitive year, Gennes led the Hatters with 13 dual match singles victories, with five of those occurring in ASUN play.

"I am very excited to have Tim helping us this semester," head coach Christophe Noblet said "He was a tremendous player for this program and is eager to share his experience with this year's group. He will challenge our players to reach their max potential on the court this season and will also be there to help them grow as scholar and people."

Gennes was around the court for Friday's season-opening 6-1 win over Florida Southern. Up next for the men's tennis team, the Hatters welcome Georgia State to Mandy Stoll Tennis Center with first serve to occur Friday at 3 p.m.
