DeLAND, Fla. - Stetson guard
Jalen Blackmon was named ASUN Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday afternoon. After Blackmon tied his season best 32 points against Cincinatti and had 28 points in a Hatters victory in a midweek match-up with FIU in Miami.
The award is Blackmon's first and 42nd for the Stetson men's program. This is the first award for the Hatters this year and first since
Christiaan Jones won the award during the 2021-22 season. Blackmon won the ASUN Newcomer of the Week award three times last year in his first season as a Hatter after transferring in from Grand Canyon University.
Blackmon averaged 30 points per game over the week leading the Hatters in both contests with 28 against FIU and 32 against Cincinatti, During the two game stretch Jalen connected on 11 three pointers as he shot 44% from behind the arc. Blackmon also chipped in with 7 boards and went a perfect 9-9 from the charity stripe over the two game span.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Hatters will return home for a second contest with the 49ers from the University of Charlotte on Friday December 29th at 7:00PM. Stetson dropped the first contest in Charlotte 62-85.
