Former Stetson Baseball Coach Pete Dunn Inducted into ASUN Hall of Fame

ATLANTA, Ga. - On Tuesday, December 5, the Atlantic Sun Conference announced the induction of former Stetson baseball coach, Pete Dunn, into the ASUN Hall of Fame as part of the Class IX, joining the other 36 individuals which comprise the conference's first eight classes.
"Congratulations to Coach Dunn on this well-deserved honor," said Athletic Director Jeff Altier. "His induction into the ASUN Hall of Fame is a great achievement for him and a source of pride for Stetson."

This honor comes as a testament to Dunn's remarkable 37-year career (1978-2016), during which he steered the Stetson baseball program to unparalleled success.

Coach Dunn's impact is best exemplified by the impressive statistics he amassed over his illustrious career. Under his guidance, the Stetson baseball team achieved a staggering 1,312 victories, making him the 30th most winningest coach in college baseball history. Demonstrating consistency, his teams averaged an impressive 35.4 wins annually throughout his 37 seasons, a testament to his leadership.

The Hatters experienced remarkable postseason success under Dunn's tutelage, making their mark with 17 appearances in the NCAA Regional Tournament. Additionally, Stetson clinched nine Atlantic Sun Conference titles during his tenure, further solidifying his standing as a coaching luminary. Dunn's exceptional coaching acumen was recognized with the prestigious title of league coach of the year, a record-setting six times.

A true measure of Dunn's impact is evident in the numerous players he developed and propelled to the professional ranks. His coaching prowess contributed to the success of 84 players who went on to play professional baseball. Notably, five of these players were drafted within the first four rounds of the MLB Amateur Draft, with nine making it to the pinnacle of the sport by reaching the Major Leagues.

The storied career was recognized in January 2014 when Pete Dunn received one of the highest honors in coaching—the induction into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. This accolade underscored his significant contributions to the sport and recognized the enduring legacy he built during his time at Stetson.

The Hall of Fame's ninth annual induction ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, May 29, 2024, as part of the ASUN's Spring Meetings set for May 29-31 in Jacksonville, Fla.
