Stetson Comes up Short Against Austin Peay

Box Score Bowling Green, Kent. – Stetson (14-5, 4-1) fell to Austin Peay (12-4, 4-1) 3-4. The location of the match was moved from Austin Peay's campus to an indoor facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky due to inclement weather.

The teams competed in singles play first on Friday morning. Stetson's Noa Cohen would drop the first point as she lost 3-6, 4-6 on court four. Reigning ASUN Player of the Week Anais Gabriel would score the first point of the match for the Hatters as she won 7-6, 6-2 on court two. Alanna DiFrancesco would finish next on court one falling 3-6, 6-7 making the overall score 2-1 in favor of Austin Peay. 

Cheri Darley and Magdalena Hedrzak would both pick up victories in 3-set matches. Darley would win 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 on court three. Hedrzak would win 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 on court five. Pilar Harper would fall short in a 3-set match 6-4, 3-6, 5-7 knotting up the overall scoreboard at 3-3, with doubles left to play.

In doubles play the Hatters won first on court two 6-2, as Noa Cohen and Anais Gabriel picked up the victory. The Governors would win on the next two courts to seal the victory as Alanna DiFrancesco and Magdalena would lose on court one 4-6, while
Pilar Harper and Cheri Darley fell on court three 5-7.

"That was a tough loss today. I'm proud of the way we handled the circumstances that we had to deal with today. We have had some tough wins this year and we have confidence in one another to win this type of match in the future," said Stetson head coach Travis Sandlant.

The Hatters will continue their road trip as they will play Lipscomb at 12:00 p.m. Saturday.
