Hatters Drop A Pair of 3-2 Decisions on Saturday

Jacksonville, Fla. -- The Stetson beach volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-2 decisions to No. 19 Pepperdine and UNF Saturday afternoon at the UNF Cooper Beach courts. The 17th-ranked Hatters (13-11) completed the UNF Beach Invite with a 1-3 mark.

In the first dual, the Hatters and Waves (14-6) battled deep into a third set on three of the five courts. Pepperdine earned 2-1 wins at the 4s and 5s to take a 2-0 lead after the first wave. In the second wave, Pepperdine clinched the match at the 1s before Stetson broke through. The Hatters got a 2-0 win (21-6, 21-10) from Anete Namike and Carolina Ferraris at the 2s, as well as a 2-1 victory (21-18, 15-21, 15-9) from Gabriella Bramante and Tori Clement at the 3s.

Third sets paved the way in the second dual as all three UNF (16-6) match wins came by a 2-1 margin. For the Hatters, Bramante and Clement won 21-17, 21-18 at the 3s, and Noelle Weintraub and Audrey Gauthier won 21-17, 21-16 at the 4s.

The Hatters will head to Atlanta, Ga. next weekend for the Georgia State Diggin' Duals.
