Carolina Ferraris, Anete Namike Named ASUN Beach Volleyball Pair of the Year

Five Hatters Earn End of the Year Honors

DeLand, Fla. -- Stetson University junior Carolina Ferraris (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and sophomore Anete Namike (Marupe, Latvia) have been named the ASUN Beach Volleyball Pair of the Year, the league announced on Thursday. It is the first ASUN Pair of the Year award for Ferraris and Namike, and the seventh time in eight seasons a Hatter pair has been tabbed with the league's top award.

Joining Ferraris and Namike on the ASUN all-conference first team are senior Shae Henson (Merritt Island, Fla.) and sophomore Karin Zolnercikova (Orlova, Czech Republic). In addition, Tori Clement (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) was selected to the ASUN All-Freshman team and Henson earned a spot on the ASUN All-Academic team.

Ferraris and Namike enter the AUN Championship with an overall record of 23-8, including a 20-5 mark at Pair 2. The two-time ASUN Pair of the Week performers won 10 in a row and 15 out of 16 during the season. They posted eight wins against Top 20 opponents including a pair of wins over Top 10 foes. It is the second straight year Ferraris and Namike have earned first team all-conference honors.

Henson and Zolnercikova, meanwhile, went 21-11 overall in the regular season while playing all 32 duals at Pair 1. The duo won nine in a row during one stretch and earned ASUN Pair of the Week honors on March 22. They tallied six victories against Top 20 opponents and recorded the clinching points in 3-2 wins over UNF, FGCU and Georgia State. Henson earns an all-conference nod for the third straight year while Zolnercikova garners her first career selection.

In her first season with the Hatters, Clement saw action in 18 duals and posted a 9-9 record. She earned three wins against Top 20 opponents, defeating pairs from #19 South Carolina, #19 Pepperdine and #16 South Carolina. She also registered ASUN wins against North Florida and North Alabama.

Henson earns her second straight ASUN All-Academic team honor. She is majoring in Health Sciences with a 3.66 GPA.

The 18th-ranked Hatters (18-14) enter this weekend's ASUN Championship as the No. 1 seed and will face Central Arkansas in the first round at 9 a.m. Friday. The defending champions are seeking their second straight ASUN title and seventh ASUN Championship overall. Stetson is 32-7 all-time in the ASUN Championship including a perfect 7-0 mark last season. The Hatters are also 18-1 in their past 19 championship duals overall.

The tournament is being held on the campus of the University of North Florida. All matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
