Hatters Soar Past Central Arkansas To Open ASUN Championship

Stetson advances to face North Alabama Saturday

Jacksonville, Fla. -- Top-seeded Stetson opened the 2023 ASUN Championship with a dominant 5-0 victory over eighth-seeded Central Arkansas Friday morning at UNF's Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex.  The Hatters (19-14) swept all five pairs and all 10 sets to advance to a second-round match-up against fourth-seeded North Alabama on Saturday.

Aleksandra Stadnik and Lauren Della got the Hatters on the board first with a 21-7, 21-7 victory on Court 5.  It was their seventh win in a row.

Stetson's second point came on Court 2 where ASUN Pair of the Year Carolina Ferraris and Anete Namike won 21-7, 21-12. They improved to 24-8 overall on the season, and 8-0 all-time in ASUN Championship play.

Next, Audrey Gauthier and Noelle Weintraub clinched the dual with a 21-16, 21-17 win on Court 4.  Tori Clement and Gabriella Bramante followed with a 21-14, 21-12 victory on Court 3 to give Stetson a 4-0 lead.

Karin Zolnercikova and Shae Henson closed out the dual by way of a 21-9, 21-14 victory on Court 1.  It was their 22nd win of the season.

The Hatters improved to 33-7 all-time in the ASUN Championship and extended their postseason conference win streak to eight in a row.

Stetson will face North Alabama at 9 a.m. Saturday morning with the winner advancing to a semifinal dual Saturday at 3 p.m.  The championship will be played at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.  All matches are being streamed on ESPN+.
