Hatters Split with UT Martin, UAB on Saturday

Stetson completes GSU Diggin' Duals with 3-1 mark

Atlanta, Ga. -- No. 20 Stetson split a pair of contests on Saturday to close out this weekend's GSU Diggin' Duals with a 3-1 record. After picking up two Top 20 wins on Friday, the Hatters fell 3-2 to UT Martin Saturday morning before bouncing back with a 4-1 win over UAB in the afternoon.

Stetson improved its record to 16-12 on the season.

In the opener, UT Martin edged the Hatters by virtue of three 3-set victories at the 2s, 3s and 4s. Stetson got a 21-16, 21-10 win from Karin Zolnercikova and Shae Henson at pair 1 and a 21-17, 21-17 win from Aleksandra Stadnik and Lauren Della at pair 5. However, the Skyhawks grabbed 15-11, 15-13 and 15-13 third-set wins to take the dual 3-2.

The Hatters bounced back in the afternoon with a strong 4-1 victory over UAB, winning nine of the 12 sets played. In the first wave, Stadnik and Della won 21-15, 21-10 at the 4s while Audrey Gauthier and Noelle Weintraub won 21-14, 21-12 at the 5s.

In the second wave, Carolina Ferraris and Anete Namike clinched the dual with a 21-15, 21-11 win at pair 3. The top two pairs each went the distance, with Zolnercikova and Henson winning 21-19, 16-21, 19-17 in a three-set marathon at pair 1.

The Hatters will have one final tune-up before the ASUN Championship begins in two weeks. Stetson will travel to South Florida next weekend for duals against FIU, FAU and St. Thomas in Miami on Friday and Boca Raton on Saturday.
