Stetson Defeats CSUN, Advances to NIT Semifinals

The Hatters defeated the Matadors 4-1

Box Score Peachtree City, GA – Stetson (19-8) defeated CSUN (17-7) 4-1 in the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) Quarterfinals on Wednesday to advance to the semifinals.

The match was originally scheduled for 1:00 p.m., however due to weather it was delayed and then moved to the indoor facility.

The Hatters would start the match off by winning the doubles point on courts two and three. Noa Cohen and Anais Gabriel would win on court two 6-3. On court three Magdalena Hedrzak and Pilar Astigarraga Harper would seal the doubles point with a 6-3 win.
 
In singles play, Cheri Darley would fall on court three 2-6, 0-6 to even the match. Alanna DiFrancesco would win on court one 6-3, 7-6. Anais Gabriel would also get the victory on court two 6-4, 6-2. Pilar Astigarraga Harper would get the final point for the team victory on court six with a 6-2, 6-1 win making the overall score 4-1 in favor of the Hatters.

"Good gutsy win tonight. We had some long rain delays which forced us inside, we adjusted well. Pilar played some great tennis tonight, with a big clinch to finish the victory," said Stetson head coach Travis Sandlant.

Up next for the Hatters is a date with the 61st ranked Colorado Buffaloes in the semifinals of the NIT. The match will take place on May 19th at 10:00 a.m. and be streamed live on Amazon Video.
