Ferraris, Namike Earn AVCA Top Flight Honors

Hatter duo honored for the second straight year

Lexington, Ky. -- For the second straight season, Stetson University junior Carolina Ferraris (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and sophomore Anete Namike (Marupe, Latvia) have been named an AVCA Top Flight Award winner, the organization announced on Friday.

The Top Flight program recognizes beach pairs who compete in at least 15 matches together at a specific flight and win at least 75 percent of their matches. This season, 54 pairs, representing 32 schools were recognized as Top Flight.

Ferraris and Namike enter the NCAA Championship with an overall record of 25-9, including a 22-6 mark at Pair 2. The ASUN Pair of the Year and two-time ASUN Pair of the Week award winners have collected eight wins against Top 20 opponents including a pair of wins over Top 10 foes. It is the second straight year Ferraris and Namike have earned first team all-conference honors.

It is the seventh time a Stetson pair has earned AVCA Top Flight honors.

No. 15 Stetson (22-14) will face No. 2 seed TCU (35-2) Friday afternoon in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship in Gulf Shores, Ala. First serve is set for 2 p.m. ET with live coverage on ESPNU and ESPN+.
