CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Stetson men's rowing team earned silver at the Head of the Charles in the 4+ on Sunday afternoon. The result comes a year after the Hatters earned the gold in the same race last year.
"We faced a lot of adversity the last couple weeks. The hurricane blew us off the lake and we have not been able to row together at all. We came to perform and I would say we did well at that because that was our best row as a crew thus far. Our coxswain Alex steered a phenomenal course that took some time off and took us from fourth to second in the later part of the race,"

The Head of the Charles Regatta is one of the premier events in rowing taking place on the Charles River in Massachusetts. The course starts at the Boston University DeWolfe Boathouse and ends at the Eliot Bridge in Brighton. The distance rowed is approximately three miles. A rolling start is used and boats cross the start every 15 seconds.
The Hatters 4+ finished in a time of 16:42.396, the second best behind San Diego's time of 16:15.54. The second place earns the Hatters a silver medal, the second medal in as many years as the 4+ brought home a gold in 2023. Overall there were 42 boats in the race with notable schools such as UCLA, Southern California, Michigan, Fordham and Penn State.
