Charlotte, N.C. – Stetson Volleyball fell to Queens in three sets Friday night.
The Hatters trailed midway through the first set before using a three-point scoring run to get back within one. They would end up dropping the set 25-19.
Stetson took an early 5-3 lead in the second set on a three-point scoring run with two kills from
Jenna Simmons. They would fall behind though and fall in the set 25-19.
The third set did not go the Hatters ways as they fell behind by as many as ten. The team was able to go on a 5-0 run to close the gap. Stetson continued to chip away getting within one on a block by
Kayla Balfour and
Lauren Della. Queens went back up by two, 24-22, but
Anabelle Standish brought the Hatters back to within one. Stetson ended up dropping the third set 25-23 and the match 3-0.
Simmons tallied her sixth double-double on the season with 12 digs and a team leading 13 kills. Three other Hatters had double digit digs.
Haruka Sugimoto led the team with 19,
Elif Yasar tallied 11 and Standish finished with 10 digs. Simmons, Balfour and
Ayala Halfon each finished tied for the team lead with three total blocks.
Up next for the Hatters is a match with West Georgia on Sunday, November 1. That match will begin at 2pm.
