Hanna Gubik and
Youna Coens were selected to compete in the Futures tournament of the Volleyball Beach Pro Tour this weekend. Gubik played representing her home country of Hungary, while Coens is representing Belgium. Gubik finished 9th and Coens advanced to the semifinals, finishing 4th.
Hanna Gubik and her partner Judit Kolada defeated a pair from Germany Schattauer and Camp on Thursday to advance into the main draw 21-13,19-21,15-9. On Friday, Gubik and Kolada advanced in the main draw by besting the Japenese pair of Urata and Asano 21-16,28-26. The run would end in the round of 12 for the Hungarians as they fell to a pair from Canada Law-Heese and Sorra 21-19,12-21,9-15. Gubik's resume in the tournament earned her a 9th place finish.
Youna Coens and partner Ines Piret represented Belgium in the event were selected for the main draw where in the quarterfinals they were able to down the pair from England Evans and Keefe 23-21,9-21,18-16. The victory earned the pair of Coens and Piret a spot in the semifinals where they fell to the American pair of Hildreth and Hodel on Sunday morning 13-21,10-21. With the result Sunday morning Coens earned a 4th place finish.
