ATLANTA, Ga. – Stetson forward
Quentarra Mitchell was named Atlantic Sun Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon, after leading the Hatters to a 2-0 week over North Alabama and Central Arkansas.
Mitchell is the second Hatter to take home a weekly award this season and first since
Jaelyn Talley was named ASUN Player of the Week on Dec. 18. It was the Nashville native's first career ASUN Newcomer of the Week award and the 38th honor for the Hatters in program history.
She averaged 15 points, nine rebounds, 1.5 steals and a block in a 2-0 week as the Hatters now hold an 8-3 record in conference play. In the win over North Alabama on Thursday afternoon, Mitchell set a season-high with 18 points while grabbing a nine rebounds, also a season-high. She followed that performance up with 12 points and another nine rebounds in the one-point victory over Central Arkansas at home.
Mitchell shot 40% from the field (10-of-15), including 50% from beyond the arc (4-of-8), three of which came in the win over the Lions. She also went an efficient 6-of-8 at the charity stripe.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Hatters will hit the road for a three-game trip as the are set to face off with the Royals of Queens University on Feb 15 (Thu) at 7:00 PM at Curry Arena in Charlotte, N.C.
