The Stetson Beach Volleyball team (9-5) went 2-0 on the first day of the Stetson Spring Invitational defeating UNCW 4-1 and Jacksonville 3-2.
The Hatters started off the day against UNCW, 4-1. Pair 1,
Tori Clement and
Shae Henson won in three sets 21-19, 17-21, 23-21. The second pairing of
Audrey Gauthier and
Carolina Ferraris also won in three sets 21-12, 19-21, 15-9. The other pair to go three sets and claim their point was
Vanessa Hurnikova and
Gabriella Bramante by scores of 21-19, 16-21, 15-11.
Julia Czurylo and
Lauren Della dropped their point 20-22, 15-21. Pair 5,
Kiki Drozd and
Klea Sirois dominated on their court by scores of 21-10, 21-14.
For Stetson's second match they faced off against conference foe, Jacksonville University. Henson and Clement won the clinching point for the Hatters 21-17, 21-19. Gauthier and Ferrarris dropped their point in three sets 21-23, 21-13, 13-15. Hurnikova and Urzua also fell 19-21, 15-21.
Alanna Shields was paired up with Della for this match and won 21-15, 21-16. Drozd and Sirois were the fifth pair and got things started winning their point 21-10, 21-10.
Stetson will continue the Stetson Spring Invitational Saturday Mar. 16. They will take on North Alabama at 8am and College of Charleston at 2pm.
