Box Score 2 Stetson Softball dropped their first two games of the Tennessee Classic on Saturday March 2.
Stetson took on Longwood in their first game of the day. The Hatters struck in the top of the first inning as
Evette Morgan drove a ball into right center brining in
Madelyn Synoracki and
Kami Eppley. In the bottom half of the inning
Hannah Marien kept the Lancers off the scoreboard giving Stetson a 2-0 lead after one.
Kami Eppley added two more runs for the Hatters as her single through the right side of the infield scored Synoracki and
Addison Foster. Marien shut the Lancers down in the second inning and Stetson carried a 4-0 lead into the third. Longwood scored seven unanswered runs through the third and fourth inning to take the lead. In the top of the fifth Morgan tallied her third RBI of the game as her single to left field brought Eppley home making it 5-7. Synoracki helped the Hatters cut into the deficit in the top of the sixth with a double to center that brought in another run making it 6-7. Longwood tacked on two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth and the Hatters fell 6-9.
In game two for the Hatters, they took on #8 ranked Tennessee. Offensively the Hatters couldn't muster up much support for
Lauren Hobbs.
Marissa Baxter was the only player on Stetson to get a hit when she roped a double to right field in the third inning. Hobbs was able to shut down the Volunteers through the first two innings before giving up two runs in the bottom of the third. Tennessee added six runs in the bottom of the fifth and the Hatters fell 0-8.
Stetson will look to bounce back on Sunday, March 3 as they take on Brown at 9am and Tennessee at 11:30am.
