Stetson Beach Volleyball Goes 2-2 on the Weekend

The Stetson Beach Volleyball team (6-2) went 2-2 this weekend at the Seminole Beach Bash. They defeated Louisiana at Monroe 5-0 before falling 5-0 to #4 Florida State on Saturday. On Sunday, the Hatters fell 5-0 to #16 Georgia State before bouncing back with a 3-2 over #20 University of Tampa.
 
Stetson started the weekend off sweeping Louisiana at Monroe 5-0 Saturday morning. On court one, Shae Henson and Tori Clement was 21-17, 21-9. Vanessa Hurnikova and Klea Sirois were bumped up to court two and won 21-18, 21-15. Kiki Drozd made her first collegiate start on court three with Audrey Gautheir. The pair won 21-11, 21-9. On court four Lauren Della and Alanna Shields won in three sets with scores of 18-21, 21-17, 15-9. Julia Czurylo and Hanna Gubik were on court five and won 21-18, 21-10. 
 
Against FSU Clement and Henson fell 13-21, 17-21 on court one. Carolina Ferraris and Gauthier were able to force three sets on court two but fell 16-21, 21-18, 9-15. On court three, Hurnikova and Siriois fell 15-21, 14-21. Czurylo and Drozd were the new pair on court four falling 30-32 in a first set thriller and 18-21 in the second set. Lauren Della and Alanna Shields were on court five and dropped their points 10-21, 15-21. 
 
Sunday morning the Hatters took on Georgia State falling 5-0. Clement and Henson were on court one dropping this one 15-21, 16-21. Ferraris and Gautheir on court two fell 20-22, 17-21.
Hurnikova and Sirois were on court three and were unable to force a third set falling 13-21, 23-25. The fourth pairing of Della and Shields fell 14-21, 16-21 and fifth pair Czurylo and Drozd fell 17-21, 21-23. 
 
Stetson looked to right the ship going into the last game of the tournament against #20 University of Tampa. Clement and Henson couldn't secure the win on court one falling in three sets, 21-17, 19-21, 13-15. The second pair of Ferraris and Gauthier secured a point for Stetson with set wins of 21-15, 21-14. Hurnikova and Sirois also grabbed a point for the Hatters winning 21-18, 21-18. Czurylo and Drozd fell short on court four, 21-16, 21-17. The fifth pair of Dell and Alina Urzua got Stetson's third point winning 21-16, 21-19. 
 
The Hatters will now head out to Long Beach, CA on March 9 and 10. They will take on Santa Clara and Long Beach State on Saturday at 11am and 2pm before matching up against Cal Poly at 9a and Loyola Marymount at 11am on Sunday.
