DELAND, Fla- In the final two matches of the regular season the Hatters (19-10) were able to get a ranked victory over #18 FAU (16-17) 4-1, but fell to ASUN foe North Florida (20-11) in the afternoon 3-2. Prior to the afternoon match against North Florida Stetson honored seven seniors
Shae Henson,
Carolina Ferraris,
Audrey Gauthier,
Lauren Della,
Amaris Carter,
Gabriella Bramante,
Aleksandra Stadnik along with their team manager Ana Queiroz for all their accomplishments and contributions to the program.
In the morning match with the Owls, the Hatters were able to pick up two points out of the gate on courts five and four.
Kiki Drozd and
Klea Sirois picked up the victory at the five 21-18, 21-15, while
Alanna Shields and
Alina Urzua earned the next point on court four 21-14, 22-20.
FAU was able to pick up their lone point on court two as
Carolina Ferraris and
Audrey Gauthier fell 16-21, 12-21. Stetson's number one pair
Shae Henson and
Tori Clement went on get the clinching third point as they won 21-18, 21-13.
Vanessa Hurnikova and
Lauren Della earned the final point for the Hatters on court three with a 21-19, 21-18 victory to make the final 4-1.
The afternoon match with North Florida saw Stetson drop the first two points as
Alanna Shields and
Morgan Anderson fell on court four 16-21, 10-21.
Kiki Drozd and
Klea Sirois were unable to get the victory on five falling 22-24, 19-21.
Stetson started the rally on the court one as
Shae Henson and
Tori Clement won in three sets 21-13, 15-21, 17-15 to earn the Hatters first point.
Carolina Ferraris and
Audrey Gauthier battled in a three set loss 17-21, 21-14, 14-16, that ended up being the deciding point.
Vanessa Hurnikova and
Lauren Della earned a three set victory on court three 22-20, 15-21, 15-13.
Up Next:
Stetson will host the ASUN Championships in DeLand starting on Wednesday April 24th and ending on Saturday April 27th with the championship match. The Hatters received the two seed and will face Central Arkansas in the first round on Wednesday at 1:00PM.
