ORLANDO, FLA - Stetson's cross country teams took to the course at UCF tonight for the first race of the year and of the McWilliams era. The Hatter women placed 6th, while the Hatter men finished in 4th.
Women's 5K:
Blair Durda led the Hatters from start to finish as she ran a 19:52.5 for 37th overall. Freshmen
Madison Kerr-Wong would be the next to cross the line as she placed 52nd with a time of 20:57.3. Up next was a trio of Hatters from 55-57th as
Rylan Holmquist 21:29.8,
Annabelle Brink 21:33.3, and
Kiley Summerlin 21:33.5 would come across the line.
Deanna Bottino 22:07.9 60th and
Madeleine Empric would round out the Stetson women as she finished with a 22:31.7 for 63rd.
The individual finishes were good enough to land the Hatters a 6th place finish, just behind fellow ASUN member Jacksonville and ahead of Bethune-Cookman.
Men's 5K:
Conrad Voigt was the first of the men to come across the line as he finished in 21st with a time of 15:50.2. Next across for the Hatters was
Eduardo Diaz Deanda in 33rd with a time of 16:25.1.
Luke Danison and
Robbie Champa would finish 38th and 42nd with times of 16:39.8 and 16:51.0. The final three to cross the line for the Hatters were
Zeke Galbraith 17:07.6, 51st,
Patrick Pitts 18:32.3, 83rd and
Carlos Cerrud 18:54.1, 96th.
Overall, the Hatters would finish 4th just behind South Florida, ahead of Jacksonville and Bethune-Cookman.
