DEBARY - FL - Stetson cross country hosted their first meet in over 10 years as the teams took to River City Park for the Hatters Invitational, the first of two home meets Stetson will host at the DeBary park. The women's team finished third in the 5K race, while the men's team finished second in the 8K.
The Stetson women finished third in the team race behind FGCU and Jacksonville, while they scored 2 top tens.
Blair Durda led the Hatter women as she recorded a third place finish with a time of 17:36.8.
Madison Kerr-Wong was the other Hatter to crack the top 10 as she crossed the line in 6th with a time of 18:13.1.
Deanna Bottino (18:54.0) and
Annabelle Brink (18:57.9) would finish back to back in 14th and 15th. Another pair from Stetson came across back to back as
Taylor Cushenberry (19:29.9) and
Rylan Holmquist (19:30.0) finished in 18th and 19th.
Madeleine Empric was the final Hatter to cross the line finishing in 23rd with a time of 20:32.5. Overall, the Hatters finished in third behind FGCU and Jacksonville.
In the men's 8K Stetson battled with FGCU all throughout as five Hatters and 5 Eagles placed in the top 10. Ultimately the Hatters finished second with
Conrad Voigt pacing the Hatters as he earned 2nd place with a time of 24:58.2, shortly behind Voigt was
Luke Danison (25:24.5) who earned a top 5 with a 4th place finish. Next to finish were a pair of Hatters as
Seth Singer (25:51.7) and
Robbie Champa (26:01.0) recorded a 7th and 8th place finish. A Stetson trio was next as Eduardo Diaz (26:36.6) notched a top 10 finish,
Zeke Galbraith (26:43.6) and
Carlos Cerrud (27:36.2) were right behind finishing 12th and 13th.
Brendan Hamilton (28:51.2) finished in 24th running unattached, while
Patrick Pitts recorded a DNF.
Up next for both the men's and women's teams is a trip to Tallahassee for the FSU Pre-Regional Invitational next Friday September 27th.
