Hatters Cross Country Competes at Southern Showcase in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –  Stetson cross country continued its 2025 season Friday evening at the Southern Showcase, hosted by Jacksonville State at John Hunt Park. The meet featured one of the deepest fields in the Southeast and gave the Hatters an early-season look at the course that will host the NCAA South Region Championship later this fall.

In the women's 5K, freshman Hannah Judge once again paced the Hatters, finishing 111th overall in 18:17.4. She was followed by fellow freshman Lucy Marquart (208th, 18:59.8) and senior Deanna Bottino (228th, 19:09.8). Freshman Kendall Wampler (19:40.6, 285th) and sophomore Madison Kerr-Wong (19:46.7, 294th) rounded out Stetson's top five, while freshmen Avery Sommers (19:56.8, 305th) and senior Sofia Azzollini (20:49.4, 369th) also competed. The Hatters placed 32nd as a team out of 52 programs.

On the men's side, Stetson finished 30th out of 48 teams in the 8K. Junior Robbie Champa led the squad in 25:15.6 for 117th place. Freshman Jonathan Pena followed closely in 25:35.9 (149th), with junior Michael Petrovic (184th, 25:52.8), senior Eddie Diaz (212th, 26:09.9), and freshman Kennan Willard (257th, 26:27.5) completing the scoring five. Sophomore Zeke Galbraith (26:45.2, 295th) and junior Seth Singer (27:09.4, 319th) also competed.

Stetson will return to action on Friday, September 26, at the Florida State Invitational at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla.
