Stetson Women's Soccer earned a 3-1 victory over South Carolina State on Sunday afternoon. The Hatters got contributions from everyone as 28 different players appeared in today's game.
In the first half, Stetson peppered the net early on their way to ten shots, seven of which were on goal. Two of those shots on goal found the back of the net. The first came from the penalty dot where
Stella Comana used her left foot to put the Hatters up 1-0 in the eighth minute. Four short minutes later,
Lea Alexander snuck one between the keeper's legs to put Stetson up 2-0. Stetson gave one goal back about thirty seconds later off the foot of a defender for an own goal.
Head Coach
Jamie Souza decided to rest his starters and get some fresh legs into the lineup around the twenty-third minute.
During the second half, the Hatters added another 17 shots with nine of them being on goal. One of those nine came off the head of
Georgia Place.
Ava Kooker was on the right sideline and sent a pass into the box that hit the top of the crossbar and when it came down Place was able to put it into the back of the net.
The Stetson defense locked down South Carolina State for most of the game allowing only two shots. Only one of those shots was on net and
Ashleigh Wise handled it with ease.
Up next for the Hatters is a home game against The Citadel on Wednesday, September 11. That game will kick off at 4pm.
