Hatters Head to Tampa for Midweek Battle with Unbeaten Bulls

DeLand, Fla. — Stetson men's soccer hits the road for a midweek matchup at South Florida on Tuesday night, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. at Corbett Stadium in Tampa.

The Hatters (4-4-2, 1-0-2 ASUN) are coming off a scoreless draw against Jacksonville on Saturday, extending their unbeaten streak in conference play. Stetson now turns its focus to a surging USF team riding a 13-match unbeaten streak.

Historically, the Bulls have held the upper hand in the series, owning a 7-1 advantage. However, Stetson's lone victory came on the road in Tampa in 2022 — a 3-2 decision that marked one of the program's most memorable non-conference wins in recent years.

Offensively, the Hatters have seen balanced contributions across the roster. Israel Daniels, Andres Freire, and Zsombor Pall lead the way with two goals apiece, while eight other Hatters have found the back of the net this season. Daniel Makowem, who is one of those eight, and Weston DeSoto share the team lead with two assists each.

Defensively, Stetson has been anchored by graduate goalkeeper Nicolo Radaelli and junior defender Ross Appolon, who were both honored by the ASUN Conference this week — Radaelli as Co-Goalkeeper of the Week and Appolon as Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Radaelli has started eight matches, tallying 26 saves on 95 shots faced with two shutouts.

USF (5-0-5, 2-0-1 AAC) enters Tuesday's contest unbeaten under ninth-year head coach Bob Butehorn. Graduate forward Fabio Bozesan leads the Bulls with 14 points on five goals and four assists, while freshman defender Nicolas Pietrantonio joins a group of five Bulls who have recorded multiple goals this season. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Jamiem Wickham has started all 10 matches, logging 34 saves and three clean sheets.

The Bulls were predicted to finish tied for third in the American Athletic Conference preseason poll and currently sit second behind Florida Atlantic. Meanwhile, the Hatters stand second in the ASUN's Graphite Division.

Tuesday's match will be streamed live on ESPN+, with live stats available on GoHatters.com.
