DeLand, Fla. — Stetson men's basketball heads out on the road for the Urban-Bennett Invitational in Moon Township, Pennsylvania, beginning on Saturday, Nov. 29. The Hatters will face Southern Utah at 2:00 p.m., followed by Robert Morris at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30.
Stetson enters the week coming off a 2–1 stretch, highlighted by a hard-fought 64–60 win over Howard and a dominant 99–80 victory over VMI. Jamie Phillips Jr. leads the Hatters in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.1 points and 5.6 boards per game. Ethan Copeland is also in double figures at 10.9 points per game while pacing the team with 10 steals. Calvin Sirmans III continues to drive the offense, distributing a team-high 36 assists. As a unit, the Hatters are averaging 74 points per game while shooting 43 percent from the field, 36 percent from three, and 62 percent from the free-throw line.
Southern Utah enters the tournament at 2–5 after a decisive 103–68 win over Nobel University. Elijah Duval leads the Thunderbirds with 12.1 points per game, followed by Jaiden Feroah (11.6) and Dylan Jones (10.7). Feroah anchors the interior with 5.9 rebounds per game and a team-leading 19 blocks, while Duval holds the team lead in assists with 26. Overall, Southern Utah averages 81 points per game and shoots 45 percent from the field, 29 percent from three, and 74 percent at the line.
Robert Morris enters the week at 4–3 and will face Southern Utah before meeting the Hatters. The Colonials feature four players averaging double figures: Nikolaos Chitikoudis (13.7), Ryan Prather Jr. (12.9), DeSean Goode (11.9), and Josh Hill (11.2). Goode leads the team in rebounding at 8.3 per game, with Chitikoudis close behind at 7.4. Albert Vargas directs the offense with 34 assists. As a team, Robert Morris is averaging 77 points per game while shooting 46 percent from the field, 33 percent from three, and 69 percent from the free-throw line.
This will be the first-ever meeting between Stetson and Southern Utah, while the Hatters hold a 3–1 all-time record against Robert Morris. Stetson won the first three matchups in the series, which came in 1976, 1981, and 1982.
