Thomas Leads the Hatters Past Lipscomb 74-70

9th game with 20+ points this season

DELAND, FLCameron Thomas scored 26 points to lead the Stetson Hatters to a 74-70 victory over the Lipscomb Bisons at the Insight Credit Union Arena on Saturday afternoon. Thomas' performance marked her ninth game of the season with 20 or more points, helping the Hatters secure their 10th home win of the year.

Stetson built a 15-point lead during the game but found themselves trailing in the fourth quarter. Thomas' seven points in the final period helped seal the win, while the defense held Lipscomb to just 27% shooting in the last five minutes.

The Hatters, now 12-10 overall and 6-4 in ASUN play, had two players score in double figures. Thomas led the team, shooting 8-for-14 from the field, while Shelby Calhoun contributed 13 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Promise Keshi also had a strong performance with seven points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks.

Stetson grabbed 48 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Lipscomb's 36, led by 14 boards from Diawna Carter-Hartley. The Hatters also put in work on the offensive glass, turning 17 rebounds into 20 second chance points.

After falling behind 2-0, Stetson went on a 7-0 run midway through the first quarter, capped by a basket from Keshi, to take a 7-2 lead. The Hatters extended their advantage to 22-14 by the end of the first period.

In the second quarter, Stetson maintained its lead and went on a 6-0 run starting at the 5:24 mark, highlighted by a three-pointer from Jorah Eppley, pushing the lead to 36-22. Although Lipscomb managed to trim the lead, Stetson still held a 44-35 advantage at halftime. Non-starters contributed six of the Hatters' 22 points in the second quarter.

The Hatters extended their lead early in the third quarter, going on another 6-0 run, capped by a basket from Calhoun, to make it 52-39 with 7:14 remaining. Lipscomb responded, cutting into the lead, but Stetson still entered the fourth quarter with a 63-55 advantage. The Hatters scored 14 of their 19 third-quarter points in the paint.

Lipscomb surged to a 68-63 lead, but Stetson answered with an 11-0 run to regain the lead at 74-68 with just eight seconds left. The Bisons scored in the final moments, but the Hatters held on for the 74-70 win.

Stetson will next hit the road for a matchup against the EKU Colonels in Richmond, Kentucky. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM EST.
