Stetson Starts Weekend Sweeping North Alabama and Austin Peay

Jacksonville, Fla. – Stetson Beach Volleyball opened the ASUN Midseason Tournament with a dominant 5-0 sweep over both North Alabama and Austin Peay on Friday afternoon at The Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex.
 
Marta Carro and Julia Radelczuk, the reigning ASUN Pair of the Week, kicked things off for the Hatters with a hard-fought three-set win, 21-17, 19-21, 15-13. Julia Czurylo and Madeline Camp followed with a thrilling comeback victory in three sets, 19-21, 21-17, 15-9. Katie Camp and Maria Ozaeta battled through two nail-biting sets on court 1, edging out a 28-26, 30-28 victory. Vanessa Hurnikova and Grace Goudy secured another point for Stetson on court 4, winning 16-21, 21-17, 15-12. Youna Coens and Caroline De Oliveira sealed the 5-0 sweep on court 3 with a 21-11, 14-21, 15-10 win.
 
After their sweep of North Alabama, Stetson turned its attention to Austin Peay with minimal time between matches to rest. Czurylo and M. Camp started things off grabbing their point 21-10, 21-9 and Hurnikova and Hanna Gubik followed suit on court 4, 21-10, 21-11. On court 2, Ozaeta and K. Camp won 21-9, 21-10 and Coens and De Oliveira were victorious on court 3, 21-18, 21-17. Carro and Radelczuk wrapped up the sweep on court 2, 21-13, 21-15.

After the impressive sweep of North Alabama, Stetson quickly turned its focus to Austin Peay, with little time to rest between matches. Czurylo and Camp got things started again, winning 21-10, 21-9, followed by Hurnikova and Hanna Gubik, who triumphed 21-10, 21-11 on court 4. Ozaeta and Katie Camp dominated court 2, winning 21-9, 21-10, while Coens and De Oliveira followed up with a 21-18, 21-17 victory on court 3. Carro and Radelczuk capped off the sweep for Stetson on court 2 with a 21-13, 21-15 win.

Stetson will conclude the ASUN Midseason Tournament on Saturday, March 29, facing Eastern Kentucky at 8:00 AM and Central Arkansas at noon.
