Beach Volleyball Rolls to 4-0 on the Weekend at the ASUN Midseason Tournament

Jacksonville, Fla. – Stetson beach volleyball wrapped up a strong weekend with a 4-1 win over Central Arkansas and a dominant 5-0 sweep of Eastern Kentucky. The Hatters earned 19 out of a possible 20 points against conference opponents.

"Overall, I was very happy with how the team performed," said Head Coach Kristina Hernandez. "It's always nice when we can go undefeated on a conference weekend. We definitely had some challenging moments, but I felt like we adapted really well and made some changes from the service line to put us in a better position defensively which helped us manage the games a little bit better. Now we are going to switch gears here and prepare to go to California."

The day kicked off with a 4-1 victory over Central Arkansas. Julia Czurylo and Madeline Camp secured the first point for Stetson on court 5 with a 21-18, 21-10 win. Vanessa Hurnikova and Grace Goudy followed with a 21-18, 21-11 triumph on court 4. On court 3, Youna Coens and Hanna Gubik delivered a commanding 21-11, 21-8 victory. Marta Carro and Julia Radelczuk completed the scoring with a 21-17, 21-6 win on court 2. Katie Campa and Maria Ozaeta battled hard on court 1 but fell in three sets, 19-21, 21-13, 7-15.

In the afternoon, Stetson faced Eastern Kentucky and continued their strong performance. Hurnikova and Goudy set the tone with a 21-11, 21-11 win on court 4, followed by Coens and Gubik's 21-16, 21-15 victory on court 3. Czurylo and Madeline Camp prevailed in a tough three-set match on court 5, 21-14, 16-21, 15-10, and Ozaeta and Katie Camp fought back from a set down to win 19-21, 21-17, 15-11 on court 1. Carro and Radelczuk completed the sweep with a 13-21, 21-16, 15-9 win on court 2.

With a perfect 4-0 record for the weekend, the Hatters will now travel to California for the Laguna Best of the West tournament. They will face LMU at 11:00 a.m. and Hawaii at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4.
