Fort Myers, Fla. – Stetson beach volleyball completed a perfect weekend with a 4-0 record, securing 3-2 victories over South Carolina and Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday, March 9.
In the matchup against South Carolina, Vanessa Hurnikova and Hanna Gubik put the Hatters on the board first with a 23-21, 21-12 win on court 5. Marta Carro and Julia Radelczuk followed up with a 23-21, 21-16 victory on court 3. With the score tied 2-2, Grace Goudy and Youna Coens clinched the match for Stetson in three sets, winning 15-21, 21-18, 15-13.
Julia Czurylo and Madeline Camp were defeated on court 4, 11-21, 11-21, and Katie Camp and Maria Ozaeta fell in three sets on court 1, 21-16, 16-21, 14-16.
The Hatters then faced Florida Gulf Coast, with Gubik and Hurnikova grabbing the first point on court 5 after a three-set win, 15-21, 21-11, 15-5. Coens and Goudy followed with a dramatic 21-17, 19-21, 18-16 win on court 2, putting Stetson ahead 2-1. Radelczuk and Carro secured the win for the Hatters on court 3, 21-15, 21-12.
Czurylo and M. Camp fell on court 4 in three sets, 23-21, 15-21, 9-15, while Ozaeta and K. Camp were defeated 19-21, 18-21 on court 1.
Stetson will head to Boca Raton on Friday, March 14, to take on Tampa at 11:00 a.m. and Georgia State at 3:00 p.m.
