Doan Claims Second Straight Individual Title

ESTERO, Fla. -- Stetson University sophomore Uy Doan claimed his second straight collegiate individual title today, earning medalist honors at the West Bay Collegiate Invitational at West Bay Club.

Doan, who also won the individual title at the Florida Atlantic Invitational two weeks ago at The Bear's Club in Jupiter, finished the 54-hole tournament at 13-under par 203 to claim a two-stroke victory over Christian Figueredo of tournament host Florida Gulf Coast University. He carded rounds of 68-67-68 and has now shot in the 60s in eight of his nine rounds this season as a Hatter.

As a team, Stetson finished in a tie for third place among the 15-team field at 20-under par. FGCU claimed the team title by one stroke over runner-up Lipscomb, while Troy, ULM and the Hatters shared third place. Stetson posted its best team round of the tournament in today's final round, shooting 10-under par on the 6,939-yard, par-72 West Bay Club course.

Thanattasorn Supinraj finished in a tie for 11th place among the 88-golfer field at 6-under par. The Udon Thani, Thailand, native carded rounds of 69-71-70 and finished six strokes behind Doan.

Senior Simon Engman moved up eight spots on the final day, finishing in a tie for 43rd place at even par. The Gothenburg, Sweden, native improved by five strokes from his second round, carding a 3-under-par 69 today.

Gabriel Lindahl of Stockholm, Sweden, finished in a tie for 55th place at 2-over par, while junior Jack Northgraves of Scarborough, England, tied for 66th at 6-over par. Playing as an individual, Federico Randazzo of Palermo, Italy, finished 79th at 13-over par.

Doan has finished among the top five individuals in each of his three tournaments this fall for the Hatters. He opened his Stetson career with a tie for fifth place at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate before claiming medalist honors at the Florida Atlantic Invitational.

Doan entered today's final round with a one-stroke lead over Figueredo and Caden Lee of Appalachian State. He suffered his only bogey of the round on his opening hole, the 443-yard, par-4 fifth. He responded with five birdies, including three over his final five holes, to close with a 4-under-par 68.

Stetson concludes its fall season next week at The Bryson Invitational at Doral Resort & Spa in Miami.
