DeLand, Fla. — Stetson men's basketball is back on the road, with the Hatters visiting Bellarmine on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 7:00 p.m. before taking on Eastern Kentucky on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 5:00 p.m.
Stetson enters the week at 8–15 overall and 4–6 in ASUN play after splitting a pair of tightly contested games against North Florida and North Alabama.
Collin Kuhl continued his strong run of play, recording his third consecutive double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds against the Ospreys. He followed that performance with 23 points, eight rebounds, and four steals versus North Alabama. On the season, Kuhl is averaging 12.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while also contributing 16 assists, 22 steals, and five blocks.
Jake Johnson has provided a scoring spark, tallying four double-digit performances in the last five games and averaging 8.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
Ethan Copeland continues to deliver steady production, averaging 13.0 points per game while shooting 39 percent from three-point range and leading the team with 42 steals. Against North Florida, Copeland posted his fourth 20-plus point outing of the season, scoring 25 points while going 6-for-9 from beyond the arc.
Calvin Sirmans III remains the primary facilitator for the Hatters, pacing the squad with a team-high 105 assists. As a team, Stetson is averaging 72 points per game while shooting 44 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range, and 67 percent from the free-throw line.
Bellarmine enters Thursday's matchup with a 9–13 overall record and a 4–6 mark in ASUN play. The Knights are led by Jack Karasinski, who is averaging 19.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Brian Waddell and Kenyon Goodin also average double figures at 15.3 and 12.9 points per game, respectively. Bellarmine shares the ball effectively, with five players recording at least 40 assists. As a team, the Knights average 79 points per game while shooting 51 percent from the field, 36 percent from three-point range, and 78 percent from the free-throw line.
Eastern Kentucky comes into the week with a 7–16 overall record and a 3–7 ASUN mark. The Colonels will face FGCU prior to Saturday's contest. Juan Cranford Jr. leads EKU in scoring at 12.3 points per game, followed closely by Montavious Myrick at 11.3 points per contest. Turner Buttry and Austin Bell round out the double-digit scorers, averaging 10.7 and 10.1 points per game, respectively. Myrick also leads the team in rebounding at 7.2 boards per game, while Buttry narrowly leads the team in assists with 75. Eastern Kentucky averages 80 points per game while shooting 43 percent from the field, 35 percent from three-point range, and 72 percent from the free-throw line.
Thursday's game marks the ninth all-time meeting between Stetson and Bellarmine, with the Hatters winning the last four matchups. Saturday's contest will be the sixth meeting between Stetson and Eastern Kentucky, with Stetson holding a 3–2 advantage in the series.
