DeLand, Fla. – The ASUN Conference announced its weekly softball honors Monday, with Stetson's
Nicole Edmiaston earning Player of the Week recognition for the second time this season.
Edmiaston opened conference play with arguably the hottest bat in softball, finishing the week hitting .692 with a .714 on-base percentage and a 1.615 slugging percentage. Against North Florida, she was held off base just twice, collecting three hits in each game, including a double and a home run in both contests—falling just short of the cycle with a missing triple in the first two games. She finished the series with 11 RBIs, scored seven times, and drew a walk. Her line against the Ospreys was staggering: .818 batting average, .833 on-base percentage, 1.909 slugging percentage, and a 2.742 OPS.
Edmiaston currently leads the conference in multiple hitting categories—including batting average, hits, home runs, on-base percentage, RBIs, runs, RBIs per game, and total bases—and ranks in the top 25 nationally in several of those metrics.
Stetson softball continues its homestand by welcoming No. 2 Texas Tech to Patricia Wilson Field on Tuesday, March 1 at 5:00 p.m. The Hatters are coming off a 3–0 opening weekend in conference play, their best start since 2006.
Edmiaston looks to continue her torrid start at the plate, owning a .511 batting average, .577 on-base percentage, and 1.600 OPS on the season. She has collected 45 hits, including six doubles and 13 home runs, driving in 46 RBIs.
Amber Chumley has been a key presence in the lineup, batting .372 with five home runs, while
Irianis Garcia ranks second on the team with 32 hits, including three doubles, a triple, and five home runs. Garcia also ranks second nationally in assists and assists per game.
As a team, Stetson is batting .319 with a .402 on-base percentage, totaling 244 hits, 94 walks, and 174 RBIs.
In the circle, Ava Braswell improved to 10–5 after earning two wins last weekend. She has thrown 83.1 innings with a 2.86 ERA and 36 strikeouts. Jenna Johnston and Kennedy Temples have also contributed key innings, combining for over 70 innings pitched with 38 strikeouts while allowing 51 earned runs.
Texas Tech enters the week at 27–2, coming off a 2–1 weekend against No. 12/#13 Arizona. Kaitlyn Terry leads the Red Raiders with a .574 batting average, 39 hits, and 28 RBIs, while also maintaining a 1.98 ERA over 56.2 innings with 72 strikeouts. NiJare Canady has been dominant in the circle, earning back-to-back Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors earlier this season. She owns a 1.27 ERA across 66 innings, tossing seven complete games, six of which were shutouts. Mia Williams and Lagi Quiroga are tied for the team lead in home runs with 10, while Williams also leads the team in RBIs with 39. As a team, Texas Tech is hitting .411 with 294 hits and 275 RBIs.
