Stetson Claims Pair, Freshman, Coach of the Year Honors

Jacksonville, Fla. — The ASUN Conference announced its postseason beach volleyball awards Tuesday afternoon, with Stetson sweeping the league's top honors, earning Pair of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Coach of the Year recognition.

Marta Carro and Maria Ozaeta anchored the Hatters' lineup throughout the season, compiling a 20–12 overall record while competing across the top two flights. The duo went 12–7 at the No. 1 position and 8–5 at No. 2, and were especially strong in conference play with a 6–1 record. They also secured key wins over nationally ranked opponents, including No. 13 Grand Canyon, No. 14 FAU, No. 17 North Florida, and No. 18 South Carolina (twice). Both players were also named First Team All-ASUN, recognizing their consistent excellence.

EJ Cudmore and Julia Radelczuk also earned First Team All-ASUN honors after forming one of the conference's most reliable pairings. The duo finished with a 19–12 record, including a 7–6 mark at the No. 1 flight and 12–6 at No. 2. They recorded several marquee wins over ranked teams, including No. 7 Florida State, No. 12 Arizona State, No. 14 FAU, and No. 17 North Florida. Cudmore added to her strong season with a victory at the No. 3 flight alongside Katie Camp, finishing with a 20–12 overall record.

Cudmore was also named ASUN Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the ASUN All-Freshman Team following an impressive debut season highlighted by consistent performances across the top two flights and success against ranked opponents.

Joining her on the All-Freshman Team were Anniina Muukka and Zoe Flueckiger. Muukka compiled an 18–9 record while competing across multiple positions, including a 9–4 mark at No. 3. She went 6–5 against ranked opponents, earning wins over No. 4 USC, No. 11 Long Beach, No. 14 FAU, No. 17 North Florida, and No. 18 South Carolina (twice).

Flueckiger also delivered a strong freshman campaign, posting a 20–12 overall record, including a 19–9 mark at the No. 3 flight. She secured key ranked wins over No. 4 USC, No. 11 Long Beach, and No. 18 South Carolina.

Julia Czurylo represented Stetson on the ASUN All-Academic Team. The marketing major compiled a 14–11 overall record while contributing across multiple flights and recorded ranked wins over No. 11 Long Beach and No. 18 South Carolina.

Head coach Kristina Hernandez was named ASUN Coach of the Year for the fifth time after guiding the Hatters to an outstanding 23–9 overall record, including a 6–1 mark in conference play. Under her leadership, Stetson earned multiple marquee victories over ranked opponents, including No. 14 FAU, No. 17 North Florida, and No. 18 South Carolina.

Stetson now turns its focus to the ASUN Championship, where the Hatters will face No. 8 seed Austin Peay in the opening round. Austin Peay enters the tournament with a 14–17 overall record and an 0–7 mark in conference play. The teams are set to square off Wednesday, Apr. 22 at 10:00 a.m.
