TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Stetson cross country teams continued their 2026 seasons Friday morning at the FSU Pre-Regional Invitational at Apalachee Regional Park.

The men opened the morning by making the jump to the 8K distance for the first time this season. Sophomore Jonathan Pena picked up where he left off in the season opener, once again leading the Hatters with a time of 25:04 to finish 19th overall.

Sophomore Kenan Willard followed with a 27th-place finish in 25:22, while senior Seth Singer crossed the line in 25:33 to place 31st. Sophomore Blake Young finished 45th in 25:46, with senior Robbie Champa rounding out the Hatters' scoring five in 59th at 26:10.

Stetson finished ahead of in-state opponents Miami, USF, FAU and FIU in the team standings.

On the women's side, the Hatters also stepped up in distance, competing in the 6K for the first time this season. Junior Micah Mizell continued her strong start to the year, leading Stetson for the second consecutive meet with a time of 22:20 to finish 25th overall.

Junior Madi Kerr-Wong made a strong move throughout the latter portion of the race, gaining 30 positions over the final 5K to finish 56th in 23:04. Sophomores Hannah Judge and Avery Sommers followed, placing 71st and 74th with times of 23:26 and 23:29, respectively. Freshman Hannah Koontz rounded out the Hatters' scoring five, finishing 116th in 24:20.

The women finished 13th overall as a team.

The Hatters will return to action in two weeks at the Georgia Tech Invitational, hosted by Georgia Tech.
