Stetson Rallies For Win at Lipscomb; Game 2 Postponed

Nashville, Tenn. - Amanda Lindsey's eighth-inning RBI single snapped a 1-1 tie and lifted visiting Stetson to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Lipscomb Saturday afternoon at Draper Diamond.  Game two of the Atlantic Sun Conference doubleheader was postponed due to rain and will be played at approximately 2:30 p.m. ET Sunday afternoon.

Stetson will also attempt to complete Friday's 7-7 tie with Belmont following the make-up game with Lipscomb.  A chance of rain is in the forecast for the Nashville area on Sunday.

With Saturday's victory, the Hatters improved to 29-13 (3-1 A-Sun) on the season and 2-0-1 on the current road trip.  The Bisons dropped to 13-18 (5-3).

Kellie Sirus gave Lipscomb a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with a two-out double that scored Christen Campbell.  Campbell, the starting pitcher for Lipscomb, kept the Hatters in check through the first four innings, but Stetson rallied with two outs in the fifth.  With the bases empty, Amy Joyce was hit by a pitch, stole second, and scored on Andrea Migliori's single to center to tie the game 1-1.

Both teams put a runner in scoring postion in the seventh inning but neither squad was able to push across the go-ahead run.  In the eighth, Migliori walked to lead off the frame and was replaced by pinch-runner Jesse Tucker.  After Lindsay Wightman sacrificed Tucker to second, Lindsey came through with the eventual game-winning hit, a base hit up the middle.  Tucker sprinted home and slid in safely just ahead of centerfielder Lauren Dortwegt's throw to the plate.

With rain beginning to fall in the bottom of the eighth, Campbell led off with an infield hit and moved around to third with two outs.  However, Sirus popped out to Nicole Forbes at second to end the game in a victory for the Hatters.

Lindsey (15-9) went the distance en route to her 15th victory of the season.  Campbell (7-9) also pitched a complete game but suffered the loss.

There will be parts of four games played at Draper Diamond on Sunday.  Florida Gulf Coast will finish Saturday's suspended game with Belmont at 11 a.m.  FGCU will then play its make-up game from Friday night vs. Lipscomb.  The Hatters will then make up their Saturday game with the Bisons, and then try to complete Friday's suspended game with Belmont.  Hatter fans can tune into www.gohatters.com to hear Jamie Bataille broadcast all the Stetson Fastpitch action.
