Stetson Tennis In ITA Preseason Regional Rankings

DeLand, Fla. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its preseason national and regional rankings this week with members of both the Stetson men's and women's tennis squads featured in the Southeast Region's top 20 for singles and doubles.

The men's tennis team features regionally ranked players in both singles and doubles as senior Maksim Levanovich (Minsk, Belarus) clocks in at #15 in singles while the doubles pairing of senior Njal Stene (Oslo, Norway) and junior Didrik Berg (Oslo, Norway) is the #9 combination in the Southeast. Only UNF's Moritz Buerchner (#9 singles) is ranked higher among Atlantic Sun players.

On the women's side, Stetson sophomore Lindsey Cable (Gainesville, Fla.) is ranked 16th in the Southeast for singles, one of only two A-Sun players directly behind UNF's Lorena Aviles at #15.

The 2012 spring season for Stetson men's and women's tennis, the first under the combined oversight of Director of Tennis Pierre Pilote, is fast approaching. The Hatter men start January 27 at the ITF Futures tournament in Palm Coast, Fla. with their dual match opener set for 1:00 pm February 5 at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center against South Carolina State. Stetson women's tennis opens at 12:00 pm February 11 vs. Florida A&M, also at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
