Guilday Named A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week

Less than 15 hours after leading the Stetson women's lacrosse team to its first win in program history, it was announced that freshman Caili Guilday (Wallingford, Pa.) was named Atlantic Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her performance over the weekend.

Monday marked the second time this season that the freshman goalkeeper earned the weekly honors from the league.  Guilday was also named A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week back on March 18 for a 17-save performance against Bryant.

This week, Guilday was a part of history as she played all 60 minutes between the pipes to help Stetson secure a 19-7 victory over Kennesaw State on Sunday.  The freshman made six saves while allowing only seven goals, and added three ground balls.

On Friday she came up with nine saves, three ground balls, and caused one turnover, while allowing 11 goals in 45 minutes of action in a loss to Detroit.  Guilday holds a .430 save percentage and a 16.09 goals-against-average in 12 games this season.

Guilday and Stetson will close out the regular season on the road next weekend.  The Hatters head to Washington, D.C. to take on Howard this Friday at 5:00 p.m.
