Hatters Host Jacksonville on Senior Night

Stetson men's soccer closes out the 2016 regular season, 7 p.m., Saturday, when the Hatters host Atlantic Sun Conference foe Jacksonville at the Athletic Training Center.

Saturday's game will also mark the final home game for the Hatters' six seniors. Trent Austin, David Caulfield, Sebastian Contreras, Paul Ladwig, Peter Nyong'o and Arturo Roosen will be honored in pregame ceremonies.

The game itself is an important one for both the Hatters and Dolphins, as each is still vying for a spot in next month's ASUN Tournament. Stetson, Jacksonville and USC Upstate are currently tied for fifth in the standings with identical 1-4-0 conference records. Stetson will secure at least the sixth seed with a win or tie and a loss by USC Upstate in its game against North Florida. The Hatters will qualify for the tournament with a win regardless of any other results.

Stetson will look to rebound after a heartbreaking overtime loss to conference leader North Florida last Saturday. After UNF dominated the first half and led 2-0 at halftime, the Hatters rallied with a pair of goals in the second half, getting one score each from Joseph Alamo and Gabriel Diniz. But the Ospreys wasted little time in winning the match in overtime, scoring less than four minutes into the extra period to escape with the win.

Jacksonville has lost three straight as the Dolphins enter Saturday night's contest. The Dolphins last played on Tuesday, falling, 2-1, at No. 20 FGCU. Jacksonville is coached by former Hatter Mauricio Ruiz.

Fans have several ways to follow Saturday's action. The match will be streamed live and live stats will also be available. Fans can also follow the team's official Twitter feed @StetsonMSoccer for in-game updates.

Series Info
Stetson and Jacksonville will be meeting for the 70th time on Saturday … the Dolphins hold a 34-26-9 advantage in the series, which began in 1957 … JU won last season's meeting, 3-1, in Jacksonville.
